Heart Rattle Sculpture Workshop

This hands-on, skill-building workshop will be held on Sunday January 11, 2026, from 3:30-6:00 PM at Leikam Brewing Company's Community Room: 5812 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97215.

Workshop will last approximately 2.5 hours, depending on your speed. Students will learn how to create a Heart Rattle from stoneware clay. This is a skills-based class that is accessible by beginners. All required tools and clay will be supplied. Please wear comfortable clothing that is OK to get dirty, or wear a smock or apron. NOTE: If you want surface color, please bring a hairdryer to speed surface drying between color layers.

We will work together, step-by-step, as you learn how to use the tools, and learn the skills to create your very own Heart Rattle. Rattles will then travel to my studio where I will dry them slowly, and then fire them in my ceramic kiln.

Heart Rattles will be available for pick-up at Leikam Brewery on Sunday February 8, 2026. If you want additional surface color on your Rattle, please plan to arrive promptly at 4:00 PM. All Rattles made in the workshop will be on display to the public from 4:00-5:00 PM. You can take your Heart Rattle home at 5:00 PM, in time for Valentines Day or your favorite winter holiday.

Price includes 2 beer tickets. Substitutions available for abstainers, minors, and others who don't drink beer. A slight upcharge may be necessary for some cocktails.

Gnome Sculpture Workshop

Workshop will last approximately 2.5 hours, depending on your speed. Students will learn how to create a small Gnome sculpture from stoneware clay. This is a skills-based class that is accessible by beginners. All required tools and clay will be supplied. Please wear comfortable clothing that is OK to get dirty, or wear a smock or apron. NOTE: If you want surface color, please bring a hairdryer to speed surface drying between color layers.
